• What is new in the mobile app space?

A lot is talked about in the travel space regarding itinerary management apps such as “CWT To Go” which allows you to sync your itineraries, get flight alerts, tap for directions to your hotel, book a restaurant, etc.  Which, don’t get me wrong, is extremely important to have; BUT, what about those other apps out there that help make the chaos of travel … less chaotic.

I’d like to highlight two areas, expense and games, that recently have come on my radar.

    Expense Help

Trying to keep those tiny taxi receipts is ridiculous, but there’s an app for that. “Expensify” for Android and “TurboScan” for iPhone both say they allow you to scan and upload receipts to be used for expense reports. They would be VERY handy for those taxi receipts.

    I’m Bored…Game Please

We have all heard of Angry Birds (I hope!) which many travelers swear by. It is a great way to pass time in the air, in the boarding area, or in some cases, waiting in line in the woman’s bathroom (Yes. It’s a problem for us EVERYWHERE.). But have you heard of Fruit Ninja? It has that addicting nature of wanting to beat your high score, slice multiple fruit in a row for more points and more. And, of course, it’s free!

One Responseso far.

Since I started using Expensify on my mobile, my life has been so much easier; I really found the whole process of drawing up manual expense reports tedious and time consuming. There is always a chance for error with little receipts, unacceptable on my frequent business travels for Dish. Additionally, I love using Yelp, as a personal after hour city guide, and Dish Remote Access as a consistent means of getting live TV on my iPad, which is especially important with the Olympics coming up. Thank you for such a fun description of new apps to explore, this will be very helpful.
