• Debating the Tablet

    Stephanie Miller
I don’t know how this happened, but I am the only person in my family without a tablet! My parents who often struggle with cell phones are wizards on their iPads. Of course my “techie” brother has one, and I’m pretty sure he could launch the next space shuttle with it. Even my nephew and my own children, all under the age of 10, have tablets and navigate them like pros.

I want one! My thoughts to justify the purchase: I could take it on personal trips to have all my entertainment with me in one device rather than taking my ipod, camera, book, magazine and pictures of my family – so space and weight savings in my carry-on.  I could take photos of where I’m at, and I could video chat with my family at night (which would probably be my favorite feature, getting to talk to my kids about their day even when I’m not home)!

I could take it on a short business trip, for e-mails, mostly. Although I’m not sure a tablet can replace a laptop when you have work that involves using different applications and that has heavy typing or keypad usage.

Like so many others, I have just convincingly made my case for buying a tablet – gotta run to the store!

Any thoughts or recommendations would be appreciated!
