Enjoy the annual, FREE Labor Day concert on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol featuring the National Symphony Orchestra. It’s actually on Sunday, September 2, 2012. Grab a blanket, some chairs, and a picnic, jump on the Metro, and join in the fun!
Gates open at 5 p.m., and the concert starts at 8 p.m.
In case of inclement weather, the concert will move to the Kennedy Center Concert Hall. Call the NSO Summer Concert Hotline at (202) 416-8113 after 2:30 p.m. for details.
The closest Metro stations are Capitol South and Union Station.

The “Summer Art in the Garden” installation at the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden runs through Labor Day, 2012.
Experience this unique mix of art and nature while strolling through a canyon and redwood forest, along a meadow, across a historic dam, and along ridge tops offering sweeping views of the Channel Islands. Opened in 1926, the Botanic Garden is the oldest botanic garden in California. It spans 65 acres in the foothills just above beautiful Santa Barbara.

There’s so much doin’ in Kansas City this weekend, it’s hard to make a choice!
