As we transition into looking ahead to the winter weather travel season in the Northern Hemisphere, I want to highlight a collection of resources available to travelers.
On Carlson Wagonlit Travel’s U.S. website, our communications team assembles information relevant to frequent travelers, which may be especially helpful when events such as bad weather occur. CWT compiles a list of re-accommodation policies which airlines issue when weather or other factors cause significant travel disruptions.
The list includes the airline as well as the affected dates and airports, so you can tell whether your flight can be rebooked without the usual fees.
This page is part of a larger list of resources for travelers, which includes access to CWT Hot News, alerts which are sent on larger issues such as potential labor strikes, government alerts, health concerns and the like. You can also find CWT Hot News and related alerts by searching the #cwthotnews hashtag on Twitter.
If an airline change fee is unavoidable, there’s a chart that tells you what the going rate is for major North American airlines. It also covers the extra fees airlines charge these days for preferred seating to wi-fi to meals.
These resources have been available for years, but we have been streamlining how many of them are presented to you so that they are easier to access from one handy place. You can find it using the For Our Travelers tab on the CWT U.S. home page or by bookmarking or remembering the shortcut: http://bit.ly/cwt-travelers.
