10 ways to get the most out of the GBTA convention
The GBTA Convention is upon us, and it’s time to start thinking about how you’ll spend your time there. It’s a long few days, with thousands of people, and a lot of educational sessions — how do you make the most of it? We asked some CWT Savvy Traveler bloggers and other past GBTA attendees what their best advice would be on getting the most out of your GBTA experience, and here’s what they had to say:

Before you go
- Be sure to download the GBTA convention app, CWT’s Gail Bayne mentions. You can use it to navigate the convention floor (we’re in booth #1713), find and communicate with other conference attendees, get information about education sessions and more.
- CWT’s Nick Vournakis emphasizes the importance of arranging meetings ahead of time. Hoping to connect randomly during the tradeshow isn’t effective. To make sure you get that one-on-one time you want with someone, plan it before you go.
- On a similar note, map out how you want to spend the rest of your time there as well. CWT’s Julie Speer mentions that while there are many great events and educational sessions throughout the week, it can be overwhelming if you don’t plan ahead. Identify which breakouts and which speakers you don’t want to miss. And make sure to have a “backup” breakout you’d want to attend in case the room your first choice is in reaches maximum capacity.
Those are the things that are best done before you even get on the plane to Los Angeles. For our top tips on making the most out of the GBTA convention on the ground, click to move on.
