• M&E in 2015: Let’s talk about compliance

cwt-meetings-events-forecast-323x224As CWT Meetings & Events recently noted in its 2015 Meetings and Events Forecast, end-to-end meetings management, compliance and safety and security will continue to be the top areas of focus for companies consolidating their meetings and events programs in 2015.

Let’s talk a little more about compliance.

New regulations around compliance in the pharmaceutical industry will have a significant impact on regulation in this sector. That includes the Sunshine Act in the U.S., which is designed to make the financial relationships between drug and device manufacturers and health care providers more transparent.

Also in North America, there is expected to be increased client interest in creating a Health Care Provider Preferred Hotel Program, where key hotels can be vetted through the organization’s ethics and compliance team to mitigate risk.

With compliance getting such a renewed focus, we have a couple of top-level suggestions for meeting planners:

    • Be sure to speak with internal compliance teams to assess areas of concern for the organization
    • Make sure all departments within the company are following regulations
    • Work with trusted partners that vet third-party partners and have local and global compliance experts

5to23percentsavingsEnd-to-end meetings management will also be a key focus in 2015. There has been strong success from this practice in North America, while meetings planners in Germany have seen savings of up to 23% and those in Australia have seen savings from 10% to 20%.

The 2015 Meetings and Events Forecast also projects hotel prices across regions, discusses the most popular destinations for CWT Meetings & Events clients, plus a roundup of recommendations to help you prepare for 2015.
