• BA customers in the U.S. must act to preserve points

Travelers can currently redeem Business Extra points for flights on American Airlines and US Airways, with BA and Iberia coming soon.

If you are a traveler based in the United States and have membership and points in the On Business program from British Airways, you need to act by May 20 in order to keep those points.

BA is merging the program with American Airlines’ Business Extra. If you already have a Business Extra account, you can transfer your points into your existing account. Travelers can also create an account in Business Extra if needed.

If travelers do neither, their account will close on May 20 and the points will expire. Or, travelers could choose to redeem On Business points before that date.

There are more details on the transfer process on AA’s Business Extra website. Travelers will want to keep in mind that On Business points are awarded based on miles traveled and Business Extra is based on the amount spent. Four points in On Business will get you just three points in Business Extra. For more information on the changes to On Business program, check out BA’s FAQ.
