Our smartphones are extensions of us. And nearly everyone traveling for work has one, of course. Just think how you use your phone. Could you do without it? Of course not. That’s why we’ve developed mobile technology for travel managers, so they can be with travelers at every step of their journey, helping them and using their data, feedback and information to improve their experience.
A quarter of the world’s population will own a smartphone by the end of this year, though penetration among business travelers is already close to 100%. In fact, many travelers carry three devices – smartphone, tablet and laptop. There are plenty of stats about how we use our phones all the time: this isn’t the place to repeat them. But the time to embrace mobile technology was yesterday! That’s always the case with fast-moving technology and we’re always trying to stay ahead.
With the Apple App Store alone counting more than 70,000 travel apps, how can travel managers help travelers find a consistent experience, while sticking to company policy about downloading apps? Any ideas? I’ll share my thoughts tomorrow, but would love to hear what you think.
