• CWT chooses Make-A-Wish as GBTA charitable partner

Colorado-PMS293For the second consecutive year, Carlson Wagonlit Travel has selected the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America as its national charitable partner during the GBTA Convention. Make-A-Wish’s mission is to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. With the help of generous donors and more than 27,000 volunteers, Make-A-Wish grants a wish somewhere in the country every 37 minutes. It has granted more than 254,000 wishes since its inception in 1980, and more than 14,200 in 2014 alone.

Last year, CWT made a significant donation to Make-A-Wish, and we will do the same this year.

As part of our countdown to the GBTA Convention, we’ve invited Jeff Krebs,
associate director of philanthropy for Make-A-Wish Colorado, to be a guest blogger and tell us more about his organization, what it means to him personally and the impact it has on children’s lives. Here’s what Jeff shared:

Amaya Martinez puppy1Everyone has the opportunity to change someone’s life and to show them hope when they need it most. Working at Make-A-Wish has always been a dream of mine because it’s one of the few charities where you don’t always see a tangible impact, but there’s an emotional impact. That to me is something far more powerful because it is something you will have forever.

The Make-A-Wish mission goes far beyond just granting a wish. It’s an opportunity to show children, their families and communities that the hard times that these families are facing won’t always be their reality. It’s a chance to step out from under the dark cloud and remember what happiness and laughter feel like. Wish experiences may be the first time in too long that the families we serve are creating positive memories.

Hope. That is something anyone can provide on a daily basis. Who provides hope at Make-A-Wish? The people who volunteer their time to make wishes happen. The Jacks1people who donate the funds that allow us to provide these amazing experiences for a family in turmoil. The wish kids themselves who battle these life-threatening medical conditions with courageousness that few possess – all of those people are hope givers. Carlson Wagonlit Travel has chosen to be a hope giver as well. Make-A-Wish Colorado is proud to partner with CWT to bring hope, strength and joy to wish kids throughout the state of Colorado.
